Presentations as Entertainment
May 17, 2006
Check out this article, My Best Presentation Tricks at Lifehack.org by Chris Brogan. The first sentence says it all: "Giving presentations can be a complete and utter thrill. Too bad attending them can be a complete and utter bore." The author continues on to inspire the reader to create entertaining as well as educational presentations. It's all about getting and keeping the attention of your audience. The article gives some useful advice, from the role of the Powerpoint slide to the presenter's role as storyteller. My dad used to tell me that public speaking is a thrill; the audience should be nervous, not you. They are sitting on the edge of their seats waiting for you to give them something good. You know your topic inside and out. It's up to you to make it interesting.
